Student ID Number

Each student must have a unique ID number to create an account. Many schools may already have a numbering system in existence which may be used here. If your school doesn't have such an ID numbering scheme, we suggest you use sequential numbers. It makes no difference which student has which number. It is acceptable to have missing numbers in the sequence.
Leading zeros are ignored in the ID field: i.e. 0004 will simply turn to '4' upon saving the student record.

If you are going to use family accounts in the future, you will want to use different number ranges for students and families. For example if your school has around 500 students, begin with number 100 and keep all single account numbers at less than 1000.

If you decide to use family accounts, you can use 4 digit numbers beginning with 1000 or 2000. This will make things easier to keep track of in the future.

It is important to use numerical digits and no letters of the alphabet in the ID number if you are going to print out barcode labels or Lunch Cards from SL.
